A trusted, lower-cost alternative for veterinary care for El Paso families.

Many pet owners delay care because prices keep rising and scheduling is difficult. Our service is built to remove the two biggest barriers: cost and logistics.

We coordinate appointments with trusted, independent veterinarians in Ciudad Juárez and provide pet-only transport, interpretation, and real-time owner communication by phone/FaceTime. Clients often tell us they’re able to do more for their pets—labs, imaging, procedures, and medications—because care is more accessible and the overall cost makes sense.

Explore how it works, then choose the care option that fits your pet. We are also available to answer your questions.

  • Border Buddy Pet Care is operated by Victoria Prado, a lifelong resident of the Paso del Norte region—born in El Paso and raised in Ciudad Juárez. With an Animal Science degree from NMSU, four years as a veterinary technician, and professional interpreting experience in El Paso, Victoria helps pet owners navigate cross-border care with clarity and confidence.

  • We’re not a veterinary clinic. Veterinary care is provided by independent, licensed veterinarians. Our role is to make the process organized and stress-free:

    • We coordinate the appointment with a trusted provider

    • We provide pet-only transport and clinic check-in support

    • Owners participate live by phone/FaceTime to ask questions and approve care

    • We bundle follow-up support when additional visits are needed, so fees don’t stack up unexpectedly

Our focus is transparency, communication, and peace of mind.

  • Border Buddy Pet Care is often the best fit for El Paso pet owners who:

    • Have been quoted $500+ for procedures, imaging, lab work, or dental care

    • Want to avoid long waits and missed work

    • Have pets needing ongoing monitoring (diabetes, arthritis, heart conditions, etc.)

    • Want support understanding recommendations and follow-ups

If your pet needs immediate local emergency stabilization, we will recommend that first.

Border Buddy Pet Care began the way most good ideas do in El Paso: with neighbors helping neighbors.

Victoria Prado is a lifelong resident of the Paso del Norte region—born in El Paso and raised in Ciudad Juárez. Growing up on both sides of the border gave her a deep familiarity with the people, systems, and culture that connect the region, including long-standing access to veterinary care in Juárez.

Victoria earned a degree in Animal Science from New Mexico State University and spent four years working as a veterinary technician in Las Cruces, where she supported clinical care and helped pet owners navigate medical decisions with confidence. She later became a professional interpreter based in El Paso, strengthening her ability to bridge language and communication during veterinary visits.

For more than a decade, Victoria has relied on trusted veterinarians in Ciudad Juárez for the care of her own pets. As a dog mom to four—Chamaco, Lady, Manchas, and Whiskey—she experienced firsthand what so many families face today: rising veterinary costs, long waits, and the painful reality of having to delay tests, medications, or procedures simply because the numbers don’t work.

Over time, friends and family began asking Victoria for help. She coordinated appointments, explained treatment plans, and helped people access dependable veterinary care in Juárez—often making it possible to move forward with labs, imaging, and treatment they had been forced to postpone. Again and again, she saw the same pattern: pet owners weren’t looking for shortcuts—they were looking for a trusted, lower-cost alternative that still prioritized quality, safety, and clear communication.

Border Buddy Pet Care grew from those moments to give El Paso families a transparent, reliable way to access high-quality veterinary care in Ciudad Juárez—handled with thoughtful coordination, real-time communication, and peace of mind when it matters most.
