Your Questions, Answered

  • Yes! Thousands of El Pasoans regularly travel to Juárez for high quality medical, dental, and veterinary services. Many clinics in Juárez are staffed by experienced veterinarians who provide attentive, high-quality care.

Victoria has personally relied on Juárez veterinarians for over 10 years for her own pets and has helped many El Paso families coordinate care there. The veterinarians she works with are ones she trusts for her own animals.

  • Absolutely! We use FaceTime or phone calls during the visit so you can speak directly with the veterinarian, ask questions, and approve any treatment in real time. As a professional interpreter, Victoria will provide English/Spanish interpretation in real time so you communicate with the vet just as seamlessly as you would in El Paso. Clear communication is a priority.

  • No. We provide pet-only transport for the appointment. Owners remain in El Paso and participate live with the veterinarian by phone/FaceTime. We handle coordination and communication so you don’t need to cross.

  • No. Border Buddy Pet Care is not a veterinary clinic and does not provide medical care. All examinations, diagnoses, treatments, and procedures are performed by independent, licensed veterinarians at the clinic.

Our role is to provide pet-only transport and care coordination—including scheduling, communication/translation support when needed, and follow-up coordination across visits—so owners can understand recommendations, ask questions, and make informed decisions.

Important: For standard scheduled visits, our service fee includes the clinic exam/consultation fee (we pay it directly to the clinic as part of the appointment). All other veterinary fees—testing, procedures/anesthesia, medications, and treatment—are separate and paid directly by the owner to the clinic.

We never diagnose, treat, or recommend care based on cost alone.

  • Pet owners are responsible for paying the veterinarian directly. Veterinary fees are due at the time of service and are paid directly to the clinic by the pet owner (Visa/Mastercard accepted at most clinics). Border Buddy Pet Care provides interpretation support during payment at no additional cost. However, if the owner prefers to pay in cash or requests that Border Buddy Pet Care pay on their behalf, those arrangements must be confirmed and coordinated in advance. A $25 payment coordination fee applies, and cash totals may vary slightly based on the same-day exchange rate. Receipts are always provided to the pet owner.

  • Border Buddy Pet Care works best for services that either (1) get expensive quickly in U.S. clinics, or (2) require more than one visit (where coordination and follow-ups matter).

Services that are often a great fit

        •    Diagnostic-heavy visits

Bloodwork, screening tests, and imaging often drive costs up fast in the U.S. Coordinated care in Juárez can make it easier to approve recommended testing.

        •    Anesthesia-based procedures

Services that require pre-testing, anesthesia/monitoring, and aftercare—such as dental cleanings and many routine procedures—are often where clients see the biggest overall value.

        •    Multi-visit care plans (2–3 visits)

Wound care, post-op rechecks, staged treatment plans, and monitoring often require repeat visits. Border Buddy’s episode-based pricing is designed specifically for this.

        •    Ongoing or chronic care monitoring

Pets needing periodic labs, follow-up exams, or medication adjustments can benefit from predictable follow-up coordination.

        •    Medication pickup & delivery (when eligible)

For existing clients, non-controlled medication pickup/delivery can reduce repeat trips and help families stay consistent with treatment plans.

When Border Buddy may be less helpful

        •    Very simple, single-visit preventive care (depending on local promotions and clinic pricing)

        •    Severe emergencies where immediate local ER care is safer

If crossing isn’t appropriate, we’ll tell you so.

If you tell us what your pet needs, we can quickly recommend whether Border Buddy is a good fit and what the typical care path might look like—no pressure, no obligation.

  • Savings vary based on your pet’s needs, the clinic, and the care plan recommended by the veterinarian. Even after factoring in Border Buddy transport and coordination fees, many families report overall savings of roughly 20–60% compared to comparable U.S. pricing, especially for diagnostic-heavy visits, anesthesia-based procedures, and multi-visit treatment plans. Savings are often strongest because exam/consultation fees don’t stack up across follow-ups (they’re included in our standard scheduled visit pricing) and many services in Ciudad Juárez are more affordable. Savings are not guaranteed and can vary by case. Call us for a free, no obligation estimate.

  • Yes. Our clients are our best advocates. Most of our business comes through referrals and pet owners who recommend Border Buddy Pet Care to friends and family after a great experience.

If you’d like additional reassurance before booking, we can often connect you with a past client who is happy to share their experience—with their permission and subject to availability. We also share written testimonials and are always happy to walk you through exactly what to expect.

  • Appointment availability varies by clinic and season, but many clients find they can schedule sooner than they could locally. We’ll provide an honest estimate of timing before booking and confirm availability once your pet’s needs are reviewed.

  • Emergency same-day visits (when safe and viable for your pet) are $499 round trip. Emergency support is offered case by case and depends on your pet’s condition, timing, and clinic availability. If your pet needs immediate local stabilization, we will recommend the nearest El Paso emergency facility first.

Non-emergency same-day or next-day appointments may be available depending on clinic schedules and border conditions.
